Concept / The Idea
For the opening of "SkyArena," CityForum ProFrankfurt has launched and organized a major shopping event on 3 June 2006,
called "CityArena Frankfurt."
Shops throughout the entire downtown area (within the "Anlagen" beltway and including Sachsenhausen) will be
open until 10 p.m. that night. Department stores, shops, boutiques, supermarkets, street-side cafés, bars,
restaurants, and of course the famous pubs in Sachsenhausen serving local apple cider are inviting visitors
to stroll, shop, and socialize.
The concept also includes a colorful festival of nations featuring World Cup participants. As a
cosmopolitan and multicultural metropolis that people from 180 nations call home, Frankfurt on the
Main is predestined to host an event of this kind. The various shopping districts in downtown Frankfurt
and in Sachsenhausen, with their diverse character, will turn into multi-colored country presentations
on the streets and squares as well as in the windows and display areas of the individual shops and
department stores, making guests from around the world feel right at home in Frankfurt. Within the
framework of "CityArena Frankfurt" on 3 June 2006, this street festival will become an emotional event
of a special kind - with dance, music, and culinary delights. In this manner, the city presents itself
as a lively, vibrant metropolis on the Main River, welcoming the world with a pageant of nations and
inviting them "to make friends." CityForum ProFrankfurt will coordinate the country presentations in
cooperation with business associations and local interest groups.
